Where to go next... ? What journey to embark on next... ?
Whenever I'm working on my current project, I often take breaks to jot down ideas or even outline some ideas for future stories. These notes often morph many times before I ever consider putting fingers to keyboard in an attempt to mold them into something others might be interested in reading.
If you know my work or have had a conversation with me, you will probably know that I feel the most comfortable in the YOUNG ADULT genre. I feel like I can joke and be silly without ruining the feel of the story. In adult fiction, I have this strange sense that I need to be serious and or "professional" all the time. It is something I am working to get over...
Here is a list of some of the ideas/stories waiting in line to be next. I am only listing ideas that have a decent amount of story fleshed out and possibly outlined. For each of these ideas to this point in development, it can take months or even years. The Bigfoot File came to life after only about eight (8) months, but Duplicitous was simmering in the fatty, waterlogged clump of neurons and glial cells I call my brain for more than two (2) years... and it ended up being much different than the original notes I jotted down.
I am going to list out some of my ideas for projects a bit further down this page, but I don't want to give too much away. I'm one of those neurotic / paranoid people who thinks everyone is out to steal my ideas and turn then into award-winning bestsellers before I can destroy them myself.
Possible contenders for the next project...
A raunchy/naughty comical mystery series (possibly 3 to 5 books, or maybe ongoing) about a female detective (definitely NOT for kids). This is an attempt to change the way I feel about writing adult fiction (see my comment above)
A young adult ongoing series set in medieval times about a boy searching for his parents (so much more I am not mentioning, hehe)
A young adult five (5) book series about a group of young girls who start a school club and their desire to fit in / find love... but they find something entirely different! I already know who my audiobook narrator is going to be - if she is available and will have me! (I even named one of the characters after her)
Book three (3) in the James Lake young adult series... if I write this one, it will be the last for this series.
A James Lake series spin-off focusing on Edward and where his life goes after high school. This one will step up the scare factor compared to the JL series, which I am hoping this will be a natural progression for the readers of the JL series as they age. I don't have any idea how long this one will run, but I won't start it until I have at least three (3) story lines completely planned out. I would say I have the least amount of "story" for this one than any other idea on this list, but I know the JL series characters so well, and even miss write about them, that I am anxious to get to this one!
Re-release of my first ever novel - Tales of Galldoria with a new cover, some editing, and ideas for an ongoing adult fantasy series. I already have the new cover, a new map insert, and I will start the re-write/edit in the near future. I will most likely work on this project at the same time as writing something new (from this list), so it is pretty safe to say that this will be coming soon!
WHICH ONE WILL IT BE??? Or will be be something not even on this list.
