So it's June and Jilly is still telling me her story... page 302 as of today. A double MUSO weekend (Saturday and Sunday - 6 & 7 June), knocking out pages like Mike Tyson. There is so much more to tell... can't rush it. But then I need editing passes, send it off to my editor, and then finalize my deal with my audiobook narrator (Jilly Bond). I feel like so much has been accomplished but yet I am fearing the deadline.
With each new book... I feel like it is infinitely better than my last book. Hopefully readers feel the same way. Writing is like working out. You can read as many books about diet and workout plans (books about the writing craft) but you don't actually get better or more fit until you get in the gym or actually do the workouts/diet (get writing done).
In addition to Jilly and Tiergan (Promise Land) I have tons of new stories planned.
I have been traveling down a dark path lately. I'm not talking about gore of the flesh... rather, the destruction of your soul and emotions. I want to write stories that haunt, decimate, and tear apart your soul, leaving you hollow.
Some of the working titles are - When She Left, Remember Me?, Phantom...
These will DEFINITELY NOT be Young Adult books (YA). I would say... probably 18 and up.
I want to create below-the-surface feelings that you can't easily shake... for days, weeks, months... your whole life. You may not feel anything until the story ends but then when you close the back cover, it becomes part of you eternally.
Stick around... if you dare.
